Remember the 80’s? No? Well that’s most likely because you were crunching on blissed out sounds from a boombox on the beach. Seriously though, it almost seems like we’ve forgotten about boomboxes in the 21st Century. Thing is though, the need is still there – there is no substitute for the boombox if you want to really let loose with your music, regardless of what anyone else thinks! Also, it’s been scientifically proven that owing a boombox makes you more attractive to women.

Let’s not forget the retro effect. What kind of guy annoys everyone else on the beach playing Snoop Dogg on the beach from a cassette tape boom box? Think about it.

It is widely said that the JVC RV-NB1 boombox is the definitive model, simply because of its unique style. Beefy, very beefy. But if you’ll believe it, JVC had plans to cancel their whole line of Kaboom Boomboxes! Luckily they didn’t, and we can have the experience of hearing the bass from the JVC RV-NB1, an extremely powerful sound system that you can carry with you anywhere using the handy shoulder strap.

rv-nb1

How powerful is the JVC RV-NB1 boombox? Try 52 watts, feeding twin front firing 16 inch speakers and 16 inch side firing subwoofers. Have you ever heard of a portable music system with more raw power than that? Yeah JVC, real good idea to try and cancel these!

Back to the features – basically, it plays anything. MP3s, CDs, CD-RW, and FM/AM radio as well as audio cassettes! All the usual features you’d expect with a CD player are found here. The CD player hardly skips a beat even when you’re running with the JVC RV-NB1 boombox…if that’s what you plan to do. The bass response submerges itself to under 100 hertz – for no audiophiles, that’s seriously good for a boombox. A real boom. The sound is rich and hearty, with a wide stereo range. Remember, you can plug in anything (e.g. MP3 player) to the aux port. It also comes with a remote. To power, use D batteries or AC Adapter.

As you may have gathered, we were thoroughly impressed when we tried out the JVC RV-NB1 boombox. It’s beefy, high performance sound and bad-ass style always generated attention wherever we took it! For parties or on the beach on hot summer days, it’s the portable music system of choice. The JVC RV-NB1 boombox is highly recommended.

The JVC RC-EZ35 looks like a classic JVC boombox. It is not designed to intimidate – it is designed to perform in any situation, and be as versatile and adaptable as a boombox can be. It is one of the more all-round solutions to your portable music needs. In the garden, at the beach, BBQ or any outdoor function, the JVC RC-EZ35 holds its own.

One of the first things that struck us about the JVC RC-EZ35 is the chassis. It’s not the beefiest looking boombox, but it is certainly stylish and looks cool when its sitting on your lawn. It’s not like we tried doing this, but we got the feeling that it was really sturdy and it would survive being dropped. It certainly got knocked over a few times though, and survived several beer-spillage incidents without a scratch, which we were impressed by!

Back to the JVC RC-EZ35 features – basically, you can play anything on it. Here are the formats that are suppoprted:

  • Standard CDs
  • MP3
  • Audio Cassette Tapes
  • AM/FM Radio
  • There is also a good AUX function, meaning you can connect your old phonograph or gramaphone and boogey on down. The JVC RC-EZ35 boombox is a damn fine CD player. It has programming for CDs (40 track), Repeat, Random, Intro, synchro-start recording capability.

The JVC RC-EZ35 surprised us with its crystal clear audio reproduction. There is a wide, deep stereo range, with excellent enhancement of the low end frequencies which reminded us of beefier JVC boomboxes such as the RV-NB1.

    More features:

  • 2 Line LCD display with backlight
  • 1 bit DAC for exceptionally clear and crisp sound
  • Hyper-Bass sound system
  • Preset EQ patterns for a range of listening styles
  • ID3 Tagging
  • Remote control
  • Headphone jack
  • AC-Adapter or D batteries
  • 1 Year Warranty
  • We found the JVC RC-EZ35 Boombox exceeded our expectations. It genuinely surprised us with the quality of audio reproduction – and, don’t worry, it is definitely loud as a boombox should be. Smaller and lighter than other JVC boomboxes, this enhances its portability. With a stylish look and excellent media compatability, the JVC RC-EZ35 Boombox thoroughly impressed us. it is highly recommended.

One of the best JVC Boombox products we’ve seen recently is that KS-SB200, a boombox meant as an accessory to the JVC SR2000 Sirius Satellite Radio receiver – essentially, a digital receiver capable of receiving hundreds of digital channels in perfect clarity and without commercial advertisements! (although it functions as a player for any audio source). It is known to most audiophiles and enthusiasts that JVC are the name to beat in the boombox market. They have specialised in this area for more than ten years, and hold their own with style and quality performance in an increasingly competitive market.

    ks-sb200

The JVC Boombox KS-SB200 allows you to use your sirius receiver to the utmost. The beach, the garden, barbecues, at work, with friends, in the car – you can bring the quality and variety of digital radio media provided by the Sirius SR2000 anywhere you care to go. The JVC Boombox KS-SB200 is based on a cradle interface – the SR2000 slots neatly and easily into the boombox cradle. Of course, you don’t have to use the SR2000 – the auxiliary sockets on the front means that any audio source can be played through the JVC Boombox KS-SB200.

Here are some of the most prominent features of the JVC Boombox KS-SB200:

  • Pair of five inch 2-way bass reflex co-axial speaker cones create an excellent stereo image
  • It’s a seriously loud piece of kit – the famous JVC bass max sound circuit ensures that the low frequency end of the sound is powerfully enhanced. There is a fantastic bass response.
  • Adaptable headphone jack – seems like a bit of a waste to us!
  • Digital volume control is exceptionally smooth
  • Aux input to increase compatability
  • Radio antenna which is weather proof and very robust. Reception is generally excellent
  • Massive length cable – 20ft! – so you can have the JVC Boombox KS-SB200 just where you want it
  • AC adapter, but this is not always necessary, as the JVC Boombox KS-SB200 will operate on 8 batteries (D)
  • We were thoroughly impressed by the JVC Boombox KS-SB200. It looks stylish, it’s adaptable and easy to use, the sound quality is excellent, and above all, it’s LOUD! The JVC Boombox KS-SB200 is an investment in mobile music, but all things considered, it is thoroighly recommended.

Historically speaking, the JVC Boombox was one of the main props for partying through the 1980s and 1990s. The classic style of the JVC Boombox has come to represent ghetto culture and allowed in your face attitude commonly followed by members of the early rap crowd. Boomboxes are still alive and well today and we expect that they will experience an increase in popularity soon enough. We expect that they will fit in well with the latest developments in music technology such as the MP3 and iPod, as well as mini discs and digital radio.

We’ve all heard about iPod docking stations, but what about iPod boombox docking stations? JVC have come through again with the JVC RA-P10 Boombox iPod dock. We thought we’d give the JVC RA-P10 our attention, given its popularity. The first thing that struck us when we first saw it was its minimalist, stylish design which takes up very little space. It looks quite techy and sophisticated. It really fits in with the design of the iPod.

    qwe

We found that the quality of the sound is generally good. There is quite a wide stereo range with the JVC RA-P10. However, we were most impressed by the amount of bass that came out of the little speakers. Low end compensation eas excellent, a real deep bass sound which is completely unexpected from a system of this size. Also, it was loud. You are unlikely to turn this thing up to full blast unless you’re on a desert island.

    Features of the JVC RA-P10:

  • Powered by AC or AA batteries (6)
  • Remote control
  • FM Radio
  • Alarm clock
  • Can charge the iPod when on AC power
  • Highly useful and essential room thermometer
  • On the whole we were impressed by the JVC RA-P10 Boombox iPod dock. Sound quality was very good, bass response was excellent, and the thing looks very nice. It’s sleek and aesthetically unobtrusive. A range of nifty features sealed the deal. The JVC RA-P10 Boombox iPod dock is highly recommended.
